Landing page and one page website: what they are and when each makes sense.

Two terms used as synonyms that are not. What separates a landing page from a one page website and a full site, how much each format costs, and the most common mistake when ordering one.

Quick answer

A landing page is a single page built around a single goal (selling, collecting leads, booking), designed for campaign traffic; a one page website is the entire site on one scrolling page with sections; a full website has several pages, one per service or topic, and is the format that best serves organic Google search. Rule of thumb: one-off campaign, landing page; small business with one offer, one page; a business that wants to be found for several terms, full site. Professional landing page design starts from €800.

FormatWhat it isMakes sense when
Landing pageSingle page, one goal, zero distractionAd campaigns, launches, one offer
One page websiteThe whole site on one scrolling pageSmall business with one service and one contact
Full websiteSeveral pages, one per service or topicAnyone who wants to be found on Google for several terms
Capture pageA landing variant focused on collecting contactsTrading something (a guide, a discount) for an email

The formats combine: the most common SME setup is a full site as the base plus occasional landing pages for campaigns. The mistake is not picking one; it is picking one when the business needs the other.

What a landing page is

A landing page is a page built around a single goal: filling in a form, booking a meeting, buying, downloading. Everything on it points at that action: one clear promise at the top, the proof below (benefits, examples, testimonials), and the closing button repeated in the right places. No menu to wander off, no links to get lost in.

It exists to convert paid or directed traffic: someone arriving from an ad decides in seconds whether to stay, and every extra option is an exit opportunity. An example of a landing page is the automated audit page on this site: one offer (a free analysis in 30 seconds), one form, zero distraction.

What a one page website is

A one page website is the entire site compressed into a single page: about, services, portfolio, contact, all in sections reached by scrolling or menu shortcuts. It is a real website, with its own address, not a campaign.

It serves small businesses well: one clear offer, one contact, an independent professional, a new brand, a single project. The limit is honest: with one page there is one title, one description and one set of topics for Google to rank. Whoever needs to be found for "service A", "service B" and "price of C" will need more pages sooner or later; the SEO for websites guide explains why.

Landing, one page, capture page and full site

The confusion is understandable because all four are "one page" in some sense. The difference is in the goal and in where the traffic comes from:

  • Landing page: exists to convert traffic that has already been created (ads, email, a post with a link). Measured in conversions. Lives as long as the campaign.
  • Capture page: an even more minimal landing page whose only form asks for a contact in exchange for something (a guide, a discount, a waitlist). The collecting version, not the selling one.
  • One page website: the permanent presence of the business, condensed. Measured in visits and enquiries, not campaign conversions.
  • Full website: the house; the other three are rooms built for specific purposes. Each page attacks a set of searches, and this is the format that accumulates organic traffic over months.

When someone says «I want a page on the internet», any of the four can be the right answer; that is why the first question from anyone who builds properly is not «how do you want the page», it is «where does the traffic come from and where should it go».

When each format makes sense

  1. Landing page: you have an ad campaign, a launch or a time-limited offer. Single goal, single message, direct measurement. Also the right format to test a message before investing in a bigger site.
  2. One page website: the business is small, the offer is one and the budget is short. Better a serious, beautiful one page than a five-page site with three unfinished pages.
  3. Full website: the business has several services, customers search different terms, and the ambition is to grow in organic search. It is where the sites by industry and the guides on this blog live: one page per subject.
  4. The most common real setup: a full site as the base plus occasional landing pages for campaigns. It is not «either or»; it is knowing which one is the house and which one is the tent.

How much a landing page (and a one page site) costs

The published prices on this site cover both formats with clear bases: landing pages from €800. What raises the number from there is the invisible work that separates a page that converts from a page that is only pretty: copy written to convert, custom design, a form wired to email or CRM, two languages, speed and device testing.

A one page website sits in the window between the landing and the brochure site (from €1,500): more sections and content than a landing, fewer pages than a full site. The complete table by site type, with what raises each price, is in the website pricing guide; and in the subscription model, from €49/month, the build is included under the terms published on the plans page.

The most common mistake: ordering the wrong format

It happens in both directions. The most frequent: a business that lives on being found on Google orders a landing page because it is cheaper, and discovers six months later that a single page does not rank for the terms that bring customers; the money saved on the format was lost in months of invisibility. The reverse also happens: paying for a full site for a two-week campaign a landing page would have solved.

The question that settles it: «how will people get here?» If the answer is ads or email, a landing page. If it is «searching Google», a site, full or one page depending on the size of the business. If it is «I do not know yet», start with the SEO groundwork and the site that supports it, and use landing pages when there are campaigns to feed.

FAQ: landing pages and one page websites

What is a landing page?
It is a single page built around one goal: filling in a form, booking, buying or downloading. No navigation menu, no distraction, designed for directed traffic (ads, email) and measured in conversions. From €800 with professional design, varying with copy, design and integrations.
What is the difference between a landing page and a website?
The website is the permanent presence of the business, with several pages for services, content and contact, living on organic search. The landing page is a campaign tool, single page and single goal, converting traffic that has already been created. They are complementary: the house and the tent.
What is a one page website?
It is the whole site on a single page, organised in scrollable sections (about, services, contact). It serves small businesses with one clear offer well. The limit: one page means one set of topics for Google to rank, so it is not the right format when customers search several different terms.
How much does a landing page cost?
From €800 with the published prices on this site. The value rises with conversion copy, custom design, form integrations (email, CRM) and multi-language versions. A one page website sits in the window between a landing and a brochure site (from €1,500); the full table is in the pricing guide.
Does a landing page convert more than a website?
For campaign traffic, yes: single focus, no exits, a message matching the ad that brought the click. For organic search, no: a landing does not replace a site, because it does not accumulate ranking for several terms. The right choice depends on where the traffic comes from, not on format fashion.
