Web design in Porto Santo: prices and guide 2026.

What a website costs on the golden island, who builds it (spoiler: almost always remotely) and what lodgings, restaurants and activities should demand before the season starts.

Quick answer

My starting prices in Porto Santo are the same as those I charge elsewhere: landing pages from €800, brochure websites from €1,500, online stores from €3,000, or subscriptions from €49/month. These are not market averages. For a seasonal business, plan a multilingual site with direct bookings before the busy season; delivery can happen remotely.

How much does a website cost in Porto Santo?

The channel between Porto Santo and Madeira does not change my starting prices for remotely delivered projects: landing page from €800, brochure site from €1,500, store from €3,000 and web app from €5,000. Other providers may quote differently. The pricing guide details each format and the island guide frames the region.

In Porto Santo, the cost worth discussing is a different one: that of seasonality. The island's economy concentrates into a few summer months, and customers plan those weeks in winter, they search accommodation, compare restaurants and book activities in English and German, months before boarding. A business without a multilingual site in that window is not losing a click; it is losing the season. The website is not a marketing expense; it is the season's booking desk.

Who builds websites in Porto Santo: remote is the norm

The island has well-developed tourism businesses but practically no installed web design offer, and that is less of a problem than it sounds, because the island's businesses already work with distant suppliers for everything else. The real routes are:

  • Agencies from Madeira and the mainland. They serve the island remotely; capacity for large projects, but typically no published prices and closed quotes.
  • Freelancers based in Madeira. The most interesting value proposition: email and video process, possible published starting prices, and availability to cross the channel when a meeting or a photography session justifies it.
  • DIY builders (Wix, WordPress). Feasible, but disputing bookings with international platforms takes more than a generic template; the map of website types shows the ceiling of each route.
  • Website subscription. The format best suited to the island: from €49/month, hosting, maintenance and changes included, no upfront investment, relevant for a business whose revenue concentrates in summer.

For an economy that already receives everything by boat and by plane, a remotely built website is not a compromise: it is the natural method.

What businesses on the island need from a website

Nine kilometres of sand concentrate an entire economy. What each type of business should demand from its site:

  • Lodgings, apartments and guesthouses (Vila Baleira and along the beach): a strong gallery, availability and a direct booking request without platform commissions, tourism website example.
  • Hotels and resorts: a presence of their own that complements the booking channels, multilingual, with the destination's experiences well told, the site that justifies returning off-season.
  • Restaurants and terraces: a digital menu, seasonal hours and an impeccable Google listing for whoever decides on a table mid-stroll, restaurant website example.
  • Sea and land activities (diving, sailing, surfing, golf, tours): online tickets and date-based bookings, in English and German, the tourism pattern applied to experiences.
  • Services (island taxis and transfers, motorbike and bike rental, car hire): fast quotes and date-based bookings, car rental website example.

All of these formats are covered in the subscription plans with a template tailored to your brand, ready before the season with no upfront investment.

Building a website for one island from another

It is the most common setup in Madeiran tourism: a provider in Madeira, a client in Porto Santo, a project delivered over the internet. The process runs by email, video calls and online proofs commented on in detail, none of it requires physical presence. When presence pays off (photographing the premises on the best weekend, a kickoff meeting with several partners at the table), you cross the channel once, with a set agenda, and settle what needs settling.

The rule that applies everywhere applies here with more force: transparency before proximity. Whoever publishes prices and deadlines, on the neighbouring island, the mainland or wherever, beats whoever works "by email, depending on the project". The selection method and the quote request template give you the process in writing.

Checklist: the site ready before the first ferry

Six points to confirm before signing, with the island's calendar in mind:

  1. Start in winter. Build when the island quiets down, launch before Easter: the timeline guide lets you plan backwards from the season's date.
  2. Direct bookings in the scope. Availability requests and tickets written into the quote; in Porto Santo every direct booking is worth more, because the platforms commission precisely the months that invoice.
  3. Real multilingual. English and German at minimum for lodgings and activities, translations in the scope, not a verbal promise.
  4. Included during the season. Who updates prices, hours and availability in August, at what pace and cost; averages in the maintenance guide.
  5. Ownership of domain and content. Everything in your name from day one, no digital hostages in the best month of the year.
  6. Baseline SEO with the local profile. Google listing, titles, speed and sitemap at launch; the SEO that follows is what makes you show up in winter searches, when holidays are decided.

Are there web designers in Porto Santo?
The offer installed on the island is practically zero, and it is not a problem: the work is done remotely, like almost everything Porto Santo consumes. Prefer whoever publishes prices, deadlines and verifiable work, wherever they are.
How do I capture bookings before the season starts?
With the site ready in winter, multilingual, fast on mobile and with frictionless direct bookings, connected to SEO and the Google listing. It is in the January-to-March searches that the weeks of August are decided; the SEO guide shows where to start.
What should a lodging website in Vila Baleira have?
Photography of the beach and the premises, availability, a direct booking request in Portuguese and English, and clear seasonal prices. See the tourism website example as the reference pattern.
How long until it is ready?
Landing page: 2–3 weeks. Brochure website: 4–6 weeks. Subscription: first version in 7–14 business days. Starting in winter, it is ready well before Easter; the timeline guide details each phase.
